Little Women
Title Sequence
This project was created during my freshman year for a 4D design course, where the assignment was to design a motion-based title sequence inspired by a film or series. I chose Little Women, directed by Greta Gerwig, because of my admiration for her work and the film’s focus on girlhood, creativity, and female ambition.
My approach was centered on translating the emotional depth and themes of the film into motion. Little Women explores the lives of the March sisters as they navigate identity, ambition, and societal expectations, emphasizing the importance of women’s stories and creative voices . I wanted the sequence to reflect that sense of intimacy and individuality, capturing both the softness and strength present in the narrative.
Using Adobe After Effects, I focused on pacing, transitions, and composition to create a sequence that feels reflective and emotionally driven. I explored how motion can mirror the passage of time and memory, drawing inspiration from the film’s nonlinear storytelling and its balance between nostalgia and growth.
This project allowed me to further develop my motion design skills while continuing to explore how film can be reinterpreted through design, using movement as a way to communicate narrative and emotion.
