Soft Power Exhibition Catalogue
This project was developed in my Design and Typography III course, where we were tasked with conceptualizing and designing a full exhibition catalogue for an artist of our choosing. I selected Elena Fiorenza Gatti because of the emotional subtlety and symbolic language present in her work—particularly her use of animals as vessels for vulnerability, identity, and quiet introspection. Her visual world felt deeply aligned with my own interests in softness, repetition, and emotional storytelling, making her practice an ideal foundation for exploring how editorial design can extend and support an artist’s voice. From typography to layout to pacing, every decision was driven by the goal of creating a cohesive, intimate viewing experience that mirrors the tone of her work.
All graphic design within this project was created by me, with a strong emphasis on typographic hierarchy, composition, and visual consistency across the catalogue system. I used AI responsibly as a visualization tool to mock up and present my designs in a more realistic, physical context—helping to communicate how the catalogue would exist as a finished object—while ensuring that the conceptual thinking and design execution remained entirely my own. This project pushed me to think more critically about the relationship between content and form, and how design can shape the way artwork is experienced, ultimately resulting in a body of work that feels both considered and personally meaningful.
